Print and Publishing

Two weeks have passed now, four Print and Publishing lessons. Umbelivebly, I've learned more about printing in four lessons here, than I did when I studied it for a GCSE (Graphic Design).
So far in the lessons we've learned about:
Relief printing,
Intaglio printing,
Planographic printing,
and Stencil printing.
we've now had practical practice in both Mono-printing

and Intaglio.

Mono-printing technique.
- Cover a glass sheet with ink from a roller, wiping off the excess.
- Tape sheets of paper above and below glass.
- Draw image onto paper, scratching the ink below.
- Use other tools e.g. finger nail, flat of pencil... to get other line effects.
- Remove tape from paper, peel paper away from inked glass.
- The result is both an impression of ink in the paper, and in the ink, leaving an negative impression.
Intaglio-printing technique.
- Scratch out an image on the plastic surface using a Scribe.
- Cover this image with ink applied by a Leather pad.
- Proceed to wipe surface ink off with a Scrim.
- Get any remains of surface ink off.
- Put plastic through a roller, along with damp paper.
- The damp paper pulls the ink out of the scratches and applies the ink to the paper.
